March in the Proverbs Day 11: Refreshing is Refreshing

March 11, 2025

Howdy!

Last night, I had a wonderful time hanging out with wine judges and other volunteers in leadership for the Houston Rodeo’s International Wine Competition in the wine garden of the Rodeo. In my volunteer role for the Rodeo, I get to recruit, select, and train the judges for the wine competition. Last night, we held a party to thank those judges for their volunteer efforts back in November, when the competition took place. It was such a blast to hang out with these incredible people whom I really enjoy!

As I was reading Proverbs 11 today I couldn’t help but reflect on last night.

Here’s what I heard:

Scripture: Proverbs 11: 25

A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.

Observation:

Be generous and encourage others, and you, too, will be refreshed.

Application:

Showing kindness and offering refreshment or encouragement always comes full circle, even right in that moment. I love the feeling it gives someone else when I say thanks.. and I love the way it makes me feel right then, too.

I want to be a refresher of others.

I want to see the good in others and point it out. Last night, I had the opportunity to do that, and I have that opportunity to do that every single day in so many areas of my life. We all do.

Prayer:

Father God, than you for designing us such that refreshing others really does refresh ourselves, too.

I wanna be a refresher. You’ve shown me how. You’ve given me the gifts to do it. And now you are reminding me how refreshing it can be for me, too.

Last night, honoring and thanking the wine judges was such a blast, and it was encouraging to me, too. Thank you for that opportunity.

Help me to identify more ways to be an encourager and refresh others right in the moment. Sometimes negativity, frustration, and “fixing” can bring me down. I don’t want that to rule my life… or even a day. Thank you for this reminder to be a refresher… and be refreshed. THAT’S who I want to be!

March in the Proverbs

Hi there, Dear Reader!

In March, I will read one chapter of Proverbs in the Bible each day and use the SOAP method to share what I hear with you on AmyCGross.com.

I am not a Biblical scholar by any means, but I have read the Bible cover to cover a few times and find that the SOAP method helps me to focus as I read.

My prayer is that this inspires you to join me in reading and listening for the Holy Spirit.

About Me… and what I have to say
